About The Blue Elephants

Hey, there! I’m Shehla.

I’m 27 and I’ve been knitting and crocheting for about 10 years now. It started on a whim – I desperately wanted a specific hat and when I couldn’t buy it, I thought, maybe I can make it! Since then, I’ve been hooked.

What is The Blue Elephants?

I started blogging about my knitting and crochet projects in 2014, purely to have somewhere to document my creations and maybe reach a few people. I was making things for family and friends, but I didn’t know anyone who played with yarn the way I did. Never in my wildest dreams could I have guessed that this little blog (that I kept secret from even my best friend) would grow to over 5,000 new friends! So thank you.

The Blue Elephants name comes from a set of little toy elephants I made for friends as they moved away after high school. It was my way of sharing a piece of myself and telling them I loved them; they were my family. When I created this blog, it was an extension of that and the name fit.

Knit. Crochet. Make. Empower

Over the last few years, this blog has become more than just a hobby for me. It’s my passion and business. It’s a means for me to share my creativity, earn a real income from playing with yarn, connect to people around the world and it’s empowered me to do more than I ever thought I could.

At The Blue Elephants, you’ll learn how to crochet, knit, and get access to patterns that are fun and modern – but more than that, you’ll be part of a community of makers. A community of strong women who make things happen and empower each other to grow and share their unique gifts. My goal here is to guide and teach you how to take your passions and create a business with them, find joy in doing what you love no matter what others think, and to reach for the things you want in life.

If that sounds like something you want to be part of, welcome to the family!
